Venita Simpson, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in complex and minimally invasive surgery for spine deformities, degenerative spine disorders, spine and cranial trauma, brain and spine tumors, and revision spine surgery.Dr. Simpson earned her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed residencies in neurological surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University and Baylor College of Medicine and gained advanced training through an enfolded complex spine fellowship at Baylor and MD Anderson Cancer Center.Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.Dr. Simpson is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and a member of other professional associations, including the American Society of Black Neurosurgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society.Dr. Simpson has delivered national conference presentations, contributed to the book Surgery of the Thoracic Spine, and published peer-reviewed academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
