Dr. Walt Lowe is Chairman and Professor of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He also serves as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and LBJ General Hospital. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Lowe specializes in Sports Medicine with an emphasis on diagnosing and treating a wide range of knee and shoulder injuries and disorders. Dr. Lowe is the only orthopedic surgeon in the Houston area in the ACL Study Group, an elite group of U.S. and international orthopedic surgeons focused on advancing the science of ACL injury treatments and surgical innovations with only 200 members worldwide. Dr. Lowe serves as the Head Team physician for the Houston Texans, University of Houston Cougars, Houston Rockets, Houston Dynamo and Dash Soccer Clubs as well as many local area high schools. Dr. Lowe received his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. After completing his internship at John Peter Smith Hospital and a residency at Tarrant County Affiliated Hospitals in Fort Worth, Dr. Lowe completed a fellowship at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles under Dr. Frank Jobe. Dr. Lowe is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, fellow American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, fellow American College of Sports Medicine, NFL team Physicians Society and ACL Study Group.

His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
