Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center
Dr. Sarah Kelley focuses on treating children with epilepsy with an emphasis on those who continue to have seizures after trying multiple medications. Dr. Kelley is the director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit where she oversees the evaluation and management of children with difficult to control or difficult to diagnose epilepsy. She evaluates and manages patients who may be candidates for epilepsy surgery. Dr. Kelley has additional expertise in the treatment of children with electrical status epilepticus of sleep (ESES). Dr. Kelley is also very involved with teaching and education and in addition to attending in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is one of the Attending Physicians on the Pediatric Neurology Inpatient Service. Dr. Kelley received her medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo Medical School in New York. She then went on to complete her pediatrics residency training followed by her Child Neurology training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She then completed her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology/pediatric epilepsy at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Kelley sees patients with seizures/epilepsy on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center. Dr. Sun’s research focuses broadly on pediatric and young adult stroke, with emphasis on discovering the causes, treatments, and prevention of stroke in the young. More specifically, Dr. Sun is investigating novel monitoring and stroke prevention techniques in children with moyamoya disease, which is a rare disease that places affected children and young adults at high risk of stroke. The goal of Dr. Sun's research is to improve outcomes and quality of life of individuals affected by stroke and moyamoya disease. In addition to her clinical and research interests, Dr. Sun is the associate program director of the Child Neurology residency program at Johns Hopkins. After completing medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Sun completed her pediatrics and neurology residency training at Johns Hopkins, and subsequently she completed a fellowship in Vascular Neurology/Stroke.
