I am a colorectal surgeon working at Duke University Hospital and Duke Regional Hospital. I specialize in treating gastrointestinal cancers (colon, rectum, and anus) and benign diseases such as diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and anorectal disease. I have expertise in robotic, laparoscopic, and open approaches. I attended medical school and surgery residency in upstate New York and received specialty training in colorectal surgery at the University of Minnesota. I love being a colorectal surgeon because I can build long-term patient relationships, help patients through challenging and sensitive diagnoses, and collaborate with multiple fields. The fact that you can take a condition, operate and potentially cure a patient is fascinating to me. As a faculty member, I also enjoy when I have the chance to teach residents during the operation.
