Dr. Rita Kalyani is a Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She graduated with an undergraduate degree from Harvard College and completed her medical degree, residency, and fellowship at Johns Hopkins. She also obtained a Masters in Health Science degree in Clinical Investigation from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. As a NIH-funded clinician scientist, Dr. Kalyani has authored over 175 peer-reviewed publications and built a research program focused on understanding the factors leading to development of diabetes complications, particularly in high-risk populations. She has conducted epidemiological and patient-oriented research that has led to fundamental discoveries regarding the development of skeletal muscle loss, physical disability, and frailty in diabetes. She has also spearheaded studies investigating sex differences in cardiovascular disease and diabetes which have influenced primary prevention guidelines. Dr. Kalyani launched the Diabetes Management Service for Johns Hopkins’ Total Pancreatectomy Islet Auto Transplant Program in 2011. Jin He, M.D., Ph.D., is a professor of surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and is the Division Chief of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary & Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology. Dr. Atif Zaheer is a Professor of Radiology and Radiological science at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, as well as the director of the Cross-Sectional Body Imaging Fellowship program. Vikesh Singh is a gastroenterologist who specializes in pancreatology and pancreaticobiliary endoscopy. Dr. Singh is a member of the board of directors of the National Pancreas Foundation, chair of the Pancreatic Disorders Section of the American Gastroenterological Association, a councilor for the International Association of Pancreatology and a member of the inaugural medical advisory board for the Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome Foundation.
