Overview
Michael Wheeler, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon serving patients in the Dallas metroplex area at Texas Orthopaedic Associates and sees patients at their offices in Dallas and Plano, Texas. Dr. Wheeler graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. While in college, he was part of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He then completed his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Following graduation, he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he became a well-rounded, well-trained orthopaedic surgeon but ultimately found his passion in the spine. Dr. Wheeler furthered his training by completing a spine fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland and had the opportunity to train with one of the most experienced and well-known spine surgeons in the country. Dr. Wheeler has given several presentations and has been published numerous times for research in his field. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, North American Spine Society, Texas Medical Association, and American Medical Association. When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Wheeler enjoys eating spicy food, staying active, and spending time with his wife, Sarah.
