"Mitchell E. Levine, MD joined the North Shore-LIJ Health System in 2005 after over 20 years of practice and is currently the Director of Spine Surgery within the Division of Neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He is also Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. During his career Dr. Levine has concentrated on complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, facial pain, trigeminal neuralgia, pain modulation procedures and radiosurgery.Dr. Levine received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and continued his training there in neurosurgery. Under the pioneering microneurosurgeon Dr. Leonard Malis, Dr. Levine was appointed Director of Spinal Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai and then the Director of Neurosurgery at The New York Hospital Queens before joining the North Shore-LIJ Health System. As a resident, he won the prestigious New York Neurosurgical Society Resident Award. Dr. Levine was also a National Institutes of Health neurotraumatolgy fellow at the Medical College of Virginia.Among his accomplishments, Dr. Levine performed the first ""early"" aneurysm surgery at Mount Sinai and pioneered the use of temporary clip occlusion in complex aneurysm cases.
