My pursuit of a career in orthopaedics has come as no surprise to those around me. Growing up on our family horse farm in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, afforded me many mechanical tasks. I've always had a strong interest in science, but I knew that working in a lab wasn’t for me. That led me in the direction of becoming a physician, so I could spend more time directly helping people. I knew early-on that I didn’t want to pursue the surgical route of treating patients, I wanted to help people non-surgically. I am a sports medicine and shoulder surgery specialist. I try to treat all patients as individuals and family. I grew up in North Carolina where I attended public schools through college. I do complex shoulder surgeries, such as reverse shoulder arthroplasty, total shoulder replacement, and superior capsular reconstruction for irreparable rotator cuff tears. I grew up in Durham and I am extremely proud to work here at Duke. All of my family members still call the Bull City home.
