"Philosophy of care | Prevention is preferable to treating an ailment, but when ailments do happen, I believe in treating the root of the problem and improving overall functionality. I pride myself on finding the actual cause. Regarding sports, my philosophy is allowing participation as long as it is safe for the athlete, teammates and others in the game. Exercise and motion not only improve your physical and psychological health, but also help you develop better relationships, communication and leadership skills and everlasting positive experiences. | Why I entered medicine | I am the son of a hospital nurse and a carpenter and a blend of the two. I frequently went to nursing meetings with Mom as a child and remember being fascinated by how medicine works. The structural understanding needed for carpentry and sports medicine started with Dad. He also taught me to speak with customers in terms they could understand and to account for their hardships. That helps me understand the demands on today’s ""industrial athletes"" – frontline workers who put their bodies on the line each day to perform critical jobs – and to dive into any limitations a patient may have. | Community involvement | I live in the Mountain Top area and spend as much time with my kids as I can, volunteering as a coach for their various sports. | Personal interests | I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy sports, working on cars, carpentry and DIY projects.
