I have provided primary care in the Durham/Chapel Hill area for the past 25 years. In 2017, I chose to close my small private practice and pursue a new career in Urgent Care at Duke. I am excited to continue being part of the community!.

I moved to North Carolina from Chicago in 2005 for a warmer climate. I trained in family medicine, but fell in love with the fast pace of urgent care, which I have been doing full time since 2007. I am comfortable treating sprains, strains, lacerations, most illnesses, and will do my best to find answers to more unusual signs and symptoms. "To this day, a poster I wrote when I was 5 years old hangs in my childhood bedroom. It says, ""When I grow up I want to be a doctor."" As a child, my little sister had severe asthma. My first memories of health care are sitting with her in the ER while she did her nebulizer treatments and watching her do them several times a day at home. I was always very protective of her and her experience gave me the desire to become a doctor. During my family medicine residency, I fell in love with the fast-paced, spontaneous environment of urgent care. I enjoy urgent care because every day is unique and I have the ability to treat a wide variety of disease processes. I truly love practicing medicine. Prior to joining Duke Health, I practiced in the urgent care department of a hospital-owned system for five years, three of which I served as the associate medical director for urgent care.
