Overview
Dr. Thomas C. Tsai is a minimally invasive gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). His clinical interests include laparoscopic and robotic surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernias; complex abdominal wall reconstruction; and bariatric and metabolic surgery. He leads the application of new technologies to gastrointestinal conditions including LINX (magnet sphincter augmentation) and near-infrared image-guided surgery.He serves as the Director of Clinical Care Redesign in the Department of Surgery, and in this role, he is developing and implementing innovative models of care delivery such as home hospital to enhance the recovery of surgical patients. Dr. Tsai’s research focuses on evaluating health policy and systems-level interventions to improve the quality and value of surgical care.Dr. Tsai received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, and his MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He completed a general surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an advanced minimally invasive gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery fellowship Massachusetts General Hospital.
