Dr. Ortiz Cruz joined Ironwood Cancer & Research Center in September 2014, after completing her hematology and medical oncology fellowship at the University of South Carolina in Charleston. She completed two years of research at the National Cancer Institute | National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Maryland where she was involved with clinical research in radiation oncology in addition to work with medical oncology. Dr. Ortiz Cruz also completed an internal medicineresidency training program at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. On completion of Medical School in MGM, Mumbai University, India she dedicated two years to research in the field of Cancer Immunotherapy at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Her work was very well received and resulted in a number of publications in several peer reviewed journals.
