"I feel very honored to be involved in the journey and care of patients that have undergone or may be considering lung transplant. Lung transplant is considered when a patient's lungs fail despite other therapies and options. Lung transplant can afford patients a better quality of life and seeing this ""second chance"" at life is absolutely incredible and fuels my passion for the field. I am humbled to be working with an amazing multidisciplinary team at Duke Health that focuses on each individual patient's needs are met for the best possible experience. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time hiking and camping with my husband and our dog Eddie.".

My job as the Medical Director of the Duke Lung Transplant Program is to help equip our team to work collectively to achieve the best outcome for our patients. Our mission is to serve patients and the transplant community with a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team approach to create a pathway to transplant, particularly for those facing barriers from medical co-morbidities. This requires a commitment to communicate and collaborate across all disciplines in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. We want to make the patient experience the best it can possibly be. We also recognize that in order to improve outcomes in lung transplants, there must be significant advances in the prevention and treatment of chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD). Therefore, we support clinical research efforts to this end, participate in the most promising trials, and provide our patients the opportunity to enroll in them.
