Overview
My special interests include colon and rectal cancer, surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel and diverticular diseases, minimally invasive surgical techniques, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and treatment of diseases and disorders of the anal canal. My passion is to provide specialized and individualized care to each one of my patients. I am part of a large, close family and enjoy spending time with them. My hobbies include gardening, cooking/baking, and spending as much time as possible outdoors. I grew up in Davidson County, North Carolina.

The operating room is a special place, where we have been able to put a number of processes in place so things run smoothly and we can give patients the best chance at a good outcome. The fact that you can take a condition, operate and potentially cure a patient is fascinating to me. As a faculty member, I also enjoy when I have the chance to teach residents during the operation.
