Dr. Susan Bahl, MD, FACS, is a distinguished Breast Surgeon who recently joined Johns Hopkins, practicing at both Howard County Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. A strong advocate for women's health, Dr. Bahl brings over a decade of experience in providing state-of-the-art, evidence-based breast care within multidisciplinary settings. She has a passion for delivering personalized treatment plans to patients, specializing in both benign and malignant breast diseases. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Bahl served as the Medical Director of the Frederick Health Breast Center, where she founded a NAPBC-accredited multidisciplinary breast cancer clinic. In this role, she helped streamline the treatment process for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients by coordinating care between breast surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists. Dr. Bahl also co-directed a Breast Screening and Prevention Program designed for high-risk women, integrating genetic testing, risk-reduction surgeries, and chemo-prevention strategies. Additionally, Dr. Jacobs has a clinical interest in the treatment of early stage melanoma. She works closely with dermatologists and medical oncologists at Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center to improve awareness and care of melanoma patients by participating in educational programs and clinical research trials. She has also launched research programs in lymphedema and oncoplastic surgery to increase the number of women eligible for breast prevention by combining lumpectomy with plastic surgery techniques to reshape the breast. In addition, Dr. Jacobs is the surgery representative to the National Clinical Trials Network for the Johns Hopkins Executive Committee and the institutional surgery representative to the Translational Breast Cancer Research Consortium. She serves as the Chair of the Cancer Committee at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, which establishes both programmatic and quality improvement goals for cancer care across the health system on a yearly basis.
