Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Dr. Bayer earned an undergraduate degree in Molecular Genetics and one in Criminology from The Ohio State University in Columbus. He went on to attend medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. After medical school, Dr. Bayer moved to Charleston, where he completed an Internal Medicine internship and residency and a Cardiology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. Board certified in cardiovascular diseases and Echocardiography; Dr. Bayer has advanced training in Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT). Additionally, he has been very active in research with numerous publications in the field of advanced cardiovascular imaging.
