A native of Italy, I trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Palermo before coming to the U.S., where I first completed three post-doctoral fellowships at USC, Harvard and Johns Hopkins, and then completed a full residency in plastic surgery at the Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland program. I graduated with an additional burn fellowship before continuing my education at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to focus on craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery. There is nothing more daunting than seeing a child suffer or be in need and nothing more rewarding than caring for them and restoring their life and joy. When I was a child, a personal experience noting the sadness in a burned teenager made me want to help restoring happiness in people by treating their conditions and facial differences. For these reasons I decided to devote my life to the care of children. I am very passionate about the possibility to treat patients from head to toe, something that plastic surgery is uniquely poised to do. A special interest of mine is ear reconstruction, especially in microtia patients, for which I have developed a special device to aid in the cartilage cutting and carving process. I am also very interested in providing treatment to patients who have intractable migraines due to head concussions, a condition called occipital neuralgia, as I have seen how a simple surgery can truly free them from a debilitating condition. Cleft care and speech surgery are also two areas of focus of my practice, and in my free time I raise funds to help underserved areas abroad provide much needed cleft care. At work, I am keen in creating a cooperative workplace in which the focus is truly centered on excellence in patients’ care.My medical interests and expertise includes:Ear reconstructionMicrotia repairCauliflower ear treatmentProminent earsEar moldingOccipital neuralgiaBenign and malignant skin cancerOrthognathic surgeryCleft lip and cleft palate careSkull deformitiesHemifacial microsomiaCraniofacial syndromesVascular lesions and tumorsKeloid treatmentGeneral pediatric plastic surgery I consider every patient as if they were my own kids. I never take for granted the immense privilege parents give us in treating their child, and it is our duty to always perform at our best ability. I like to bring innovation in the operating room by finding novel solutions to old problems using the technologies that we are lucky to have to our disposal. I’m West Virginia-born and raised, where most of my family still lives. I practice medicine because I enjoy helping people in a time of need, especially children. The best part of what I do is building relationships with families. I know I’ve had a positive impact if a child’s family is glad they made the decision to come to me for care. Children are one of our most vulnerable demographics (the other is seniors), and we need to look out for them. Because many of the kids I see have a problem that’s readily addressable, I can help improve their quality of life in a meaningful way. I really enjoy working with parents, too – because as a parent myself, I understand their concerns. All children should have access to the healthcare they need. And I believe any program that improves quality of life for children, whether it’s in-school or after-school, benefits kids individually and our society as a whole. Dr. Chafin is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Autosomal Cleft Palate. His top areas of expertise are Enlarged Adenoids, Otitis, Ruptured Eardrum, and Stridor.

My wife says I’m a big kid myself, and I can’t disagree. As chief of the Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) division at Nemours Children’s Clinic, Jacksonville, I try to make a big difference – not only in the lives of the children I treat, but also with their families. It’s very rewarding when we can make a big difference in the life of a child. Sometimes it’s a simple procedure, sometimes it’s complex reconstructive surgery, either way it’s great when you can do something that has a serious positive impact on a kid and the family. I really enjoy seeing a child get back to just being a child. Nemours has a singular focus on patient satisfaction – family satisfaction, really – and that’s what resonates most for me. Lots of kids have access to great healthcare because of the work we do here, and that makes me proud. For some people, surgery is like fixing a car: you find out what’s wrong, determine what you need to do, and you go in and fix it. The challenge, and the beauty, of my work at Nemours is that we don’t just deal with the patient. We’re concerned with the whole family surrounding the child, providing care to everyone in that child’s life, and doing whatever it takes to make a difference in their lives. Dr. Sprecher is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Autosomal Cleft Palate. His top areas of expertise are Enlarged Adenoids, Otitis, Tongue Tie, Laryngomalacia, and Myringotomy.

I was born into an agricultural family and grew up on a produce farm in California. But I decided I wanted to branch out into something different than our family business. That's how I discovered medicine as a profession. It's a wonderful thing to do what you love and feel like you can make a difference in people's lives. It wasn't my initial plan to work in pediatrics. But being a big kid myself, it was natural for me to gravitate toward working with children. I like being there to help them. Kids get sick through no fault of their own. My philosophy is that we owe them everything we can do to help them feel better. My clinical focus is treating children with airway obstructions, whether due to asthma or for some other reason. Most of all, I want to help as many kids as I can to live happier, healthier lives. In addition to the other expertises listed, Dr. Kanamori has expertise in treating:Allergic fungal sinusitisCongenital airway anomaliesLaryngomalacia Since we moved to Orlando, my family and I have gotten involved with Give Kids the World Village, a nonprofit resort where children with life-threatening illness and their families are treated to free storybook vacations. We decided as a family to spend time there helping the kids enjoy their experience. Dr. Kanamori is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Autosomal Cleft Palate. His top areas of expertise are Enlarged Adenoids, Otitis, Low Nasal Bridge, and Nasal Septal Hematoma.

My father was a health and physical education teacher who inspired my interest in the human body. I find all aspects of my specialty fascinating, but I have a particular interest in conditions that affect children. My wife and I have two children. We are a family that enjoys outdoor activities and sports. Children are our future and treating them reminds me of the best in humanity. Their innocence and potential motivate me to advocate on their behalf. I find it very rewarding to help a child overcome obstacles so they can reach their full potential. The ability to hear, taste, smell and speak is integral to the human experience. When one or more of these senses is compromised in a child, it can challenge their drive and creativity and test their family. It brings me special satisfaction to improve or restore these gifts through medical management, or in some cases, surgical intervention. In addition to the other expertises listed, Dr. Pritchett has expertise in treating:Allergic fungal sinusitisParotid tumorsSalivary stonesMicrotia/AtresiaLaryngomalaciaLymphatic malformationCongenital airway anomaliesChoanal atresiaPyriform aperature stenosisAuditory neuropathy Humans are complex creatures with physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional needs. Practicing medicine in this context is important to me, even as a surgeon. I see a child in holistic terms, not just as my patient. Dr. Von Pritchett is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Autosomal Cleft Palate. His top areas of expertise are Hearing Loss, Infant Hearing Loss, Otitis, Myringotomy, and Adenoidectomy.

What is the definition of Autosomal Cleft Palate?

Autosomal dominant cleft palate is a common genetic condition present at birth in which an infant has an abnormal opening in the roof of the mouth. This condition can also be associated with a cleft lip or other birth defects. Autosomal dominant cleft palate is an inherited condition passed on by one of the parents.

When should I see an Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor in Florida, US?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing an Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor in Florida, US?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Autosomal Cleft Palate doctors in Florida, US?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Autosomal Cleft Palate doctors in Florida, US?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with an Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor in Florida, US?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with an Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor in Florida, US?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Autosomal Cleft Palate doctors in Florida, US?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find an Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Autosomal Cleft Palate doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
