How did I end up at Mercy Radiology and with Dignity Health as Director of Women's Imaging? We are all an accumulation of our life opportunities, choices and experiences. In high school I spent a summer in rural Honduras in central America walking between village schools teaching dental care and handing out toothbrushes, which I suspect the children later used to clean their shoes.I spent my high school weekends washing dishes in a nursing home occasionally coming across  lost pairs of dentures. My college summers were spent working as a nurse's aide in a nursing home, and school year weekends in the local community hospital.  My college freshman chemistry teaching assistant was smart, premed and had a cute girlfriend, and I thought, I want to be like him.Originally I wanted to be a family doctor and do a little of everything. In medical school though I met an OB/GYN who inspired me to learn how to deliver babies.   A couple thousand delivered babies and many gynecologic surgeries later, I started getting restless, or maybe I was just tired and sleep deprived. I loved the relationships with patients and their families, but wanted a new challenge.Diagnostic imaging and radiology had changed so much since my medical school years. It seemed like all healthcare providers and patients depending on some type of imaging for their care. In my radiology training imaging to find breast cancer seemed like it was my destiny. In the mid 1980's when screening mammography first become common my mom's doctor ordered one for her. The radiologist in Seattle found early cancer in both her breasts. She recently celebrated her 80th birthday and myself and my family are grateful to her ordering doctor and the radiologist.I feel fortunate my opportunities, choices and experiences have landed me in Sacramento with Mercy Radiology. I hope to spend the rest of my career helping women and their families survive breast cancer.I want to help women find their breast cancers as early as possible when they are curable, and will require the least aggressive surgery, chemotherapy or radiation.Although medical imaging can help find early breast cancer and save women's lives, it also can have unintended harms, with anxiety and costs of additional imaging. My current efforts are to provide women with accurate results as quickly as possible and if any further evaluation needed to perform it promptly. At our women's center in Carmichael we offer same day results and often are able to proceed directly to extra imaging if needed in the small number of women with abnormal screening exams. My goal is to provide education, the latest proven technology with accurate interpretations in an office environment where women and their families are treated kindly. I am originally from Maryland, but came to California for medical school and never left. I completed my Medical School and Residency at Loma Linda University in Southern California and, while there, was selected to serve as Chief Resident, by my fellow residents. From there, I went onto a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care, at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Central Florida's only Level One Trauma Center.I enjoy being a surgeon because I like to make people feel better and get them back to their normal routine quickly. Thus, when possible, most of my surgeries are done with minimally invasive techniques that decrease hospital length of stay, result in less pain and provide a quicker recovery.I have been with Mercy Medical Group for 13 years and currently serve as the Chief of Surgery at Mercy San Juan, a position I am most proud of because it requires an election by your peers.  In addition, I serve as the Cancer Liaison for the hospital, and attend quarterly Regional Oncology meetings to discuss quality measures and cancer care for our oncology patients. In addition, I recently received a certification in the Hidden Scar™ technique, used to hide surgical scars that occur from breast cancer tumor removal. I work closely with our highly skilled oncologists, radiation oncologists, and amazing Nurse Navigators to provide a team approach to cancer care. We strive to offer a positive patient experience and to ensure the patient that they are not alone. On a personal note, I met my husband while studying abroad in England and have been married for 26 wonderful years and counting. I am passionate about raising breast cancer awareness and am a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. One of my favorite activities is hosting our Annual Breast Cancer Survivor Tea, we are preparing to host our 14th Annual Tea. It is wonderful to see so many fantastic women sharing their stories of strength. In addition to planning for the next Tea, I also enjoy dancing, skiing, golfing, and traveling with husband.I want to make a difference in people's life, make them feel whole again, and get them back in their normal routine, pain free, with a speedy recovery.  Our team understands there is no convenient time for a hernia repair, gallbladder or appendix removal, or a breast or colon cancer diagnosis. These conditions can upset your world, but we are here as a team to help you through the process, to take care of you, and to provide minimal disruption in your life. When should I see a Biliary Dyskinesia doctor near Roseville, CA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Biliary Dyskinesia doctor near Roseville, CA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Biliary Dyskinesia doctors near Roseville, CA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Biliary Dyskinesia doctors near Roseville, CA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Biliary Dyskinesia doctor near Roseville, CA?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Biliary Dyskinesia doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Biliary Dyskinesia doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Biliary Dyskinesia doctor near Roseville, CA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
      • List of questions and concerns
      • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Biliary Dyskinesia doctor?

      Here are some sample questions:

      • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
      • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
      • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
      • Are there other specialists I need to see?
      • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Biliary Dyskinesia doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Biliary Dyskinesia doctors near Roseville, CA?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Biliary Dyskinesia doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Biliary Dyskinesia doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Biliary Dyskinesia doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
