Dr. Kristen Shirey

My interest in medicine first grew from my experiences with family members who were ill. My training is in both general internal medicine and psychiatry. I supervise residents at Duke Outpatient Clinic and see patients in the solid organ transplant program for psychiatry. I believe in the essential nature of integrated care and extend that to the multiple areas in which I practice. My career interests center around the interplay of medicine and psychiatry, particularly in complex care settings. I consider my psychiatric practice to be psychotherapy-informed medication management. Outside of medicine, I enjoy running, watching and playing a variety of sports, listening to music, and traveling.
