Dr. Neskovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, on February 12, 1953, in a farmer's family, and he was supposed to continue farming the same way his father, grandfather and grandfather did. But, from maybe age 3 he wanted to become a physician or maybe a Serbian priest, but that desire to become a physician was so strong that he never deviated from his original idea which became his lifelong passion and his calling. He remembers clearly when he put on that white coat as a medical student in Belgrade University in 1971, and he still has that real and very distinct feeling which is hard to explain, and he has that feeling every single time when he puts on his white coat. His medical practice began in Vukovar and Tovarnik (from 1977 to 1980), and continued in Chicago and Galena, Illinois, Daytona Beach, Florida and Glendale and Burbank, CA: 1980 till present. He has been a physician for 40 years, and he still cannot believe that! This is such an honor to him to be part of his sacred profession, and he believes that he will never retire, because he loves medicine so much and it is his lifelong passion. A few years ago he became preceptor in family medicine with Midwestern University, and that became his new passion and he really loves to share his knowledge with young doctors. He always had great respect for Oriental medicine and in June 2015 he became student at Emperor's college for Oriental medicine and acupuncture, and is still learning so much about medicine, and he would love to practice Western and Oriental medicine one day.Spasoje is married to his wife Gordana from April 9th 1989 and has two sons, Alexander and Marko. His physical health and emotional and mental and spiritual health was always very important to him, and he completed so far 23 Los Angeles Marathon's, and with a group of friends he does hike almost every week and he conquered also Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Rainier, Mount Shasta, Mount Whitney, Mount Langley, Mount San Jacinto and many other peaks. His hiking and healthy lifestyle helps him to stay in harmony with the universe and to help nourish his life. He is now 63 years old, and he cannot believe that, because he feels still like he is 27 years old. He is skiing and skateboarding like a young man with his positive mental attitude. Staying healthy is a very serious business, and maybe because of those reasons, he is studying Oriental medicine, trying to understand better the ancient Oriental doctors and their philosophy of healthy living, and what does it really mean "nourishing life". Dr. Neskovic is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Bipolar Disorder (BPD). His top areas of expertise are Vitamin D Deficiency, Vascular Dementia, Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), and Hypertension.

What is the definition of Bipolar Disorder (BPD)?

Bipolar disorder is a mental condition in which a person has wide or extreme swings in their mood. Periods of feeling sad and depressed may alternate with periods of intense excitement and activity or being cross or irritable.

What are the signs and symptoms of bipolar disorder?

Here are some common symptoms associated with the manic and depressive phases of bipolar disorder (BPD). It’s important to note that people may experience these symptoms differently or at different intensities.

      Manic Phase

      • Feeling overly happy, energetic, or irritable
      • Rapid speech and racing thoughts
      • Increased activity levels, energy, or restlessness
      • Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
      • Reduced need for sleep
      • Engaging in risky behaviors

      Depressive Phase

      • Feeling sad, hopeless, or empty
      • Loss of interest in most activities
      • Fatigue or loss of energy
      • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much
      • Changes in appetite or weight
      • Trouble focusing, remembering, or choosing

Should someone with bipolar disorder see a therapist?

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, psychotherapy (talk therapy) can be an effective part of treatment for individuals with bipolar disorder. Therefore, individuals living with bipolar disorder should consider seeing a therapist. Therapists are trained in psychotherapy to help people manage their symptoms, learn coping strategies, and improve their quality of life.

What kind of therapist is best for bipolar disorder?

A licensed therapist with experience in treating bipolar disorder is likely to be the best choice. This can include:

      • Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can prescribe medication and provide therapy.
      • Psychologists are mental health specialists who offer therapy but do not prescribe medication.
      • Licensed professional counselors are trained in talk therapy to help people manage symptoms.
      • Social workers can offer counseling and connect patients with resources and support services.

      What is late-stage bipolar disorder?

Bipolar Disorder (BPD) is not categorized by stages but by types (e.g., bipolar I, bipolar II, and cyclothymic disorder). The disorder itself does not progress (get worse over time), but symptoms may become more persistent or difficult to manage. Late-onset Bipolar Disorder (BPD) happens when someone experiences symptoms and receives a diagnosis later in life – usually after the age of 50.

At what age do symptoms usually appear for bipolar disorder?

Symptoms of bipolar disorder (BPD) typically appear in late adolescence or early adulthood, usually between the ages of 20 and 40. However, they can also occur in children and older adults.

What is the life expectancy of someone with bipolar disorder?

The life expectancy of someone living with bipolar disorder may be shorter than average due to co-occurring medical conditions, lifestyle factors, and an increased risk of self-harm. However, with treatment, including medication and therapy, individuals living with bipolar disorder (BPD) can lead fulfilling lives.

When should I see a Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor in California, US?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor in California, US?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctors in California, US?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctors in California, US?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor in California, US?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor in California, US?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
      • List of questions and concerns
      • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor?

      Here are some sample questions:

      • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
      • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
      • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
      • Are there other specialists I need to see?
      • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctors in California, US?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Bipolar Disorder (BPD) doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
