Dr. James J. Hakim
Overview
James J. Hakim, MD, FACP, is an internist with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). He is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has more than 35 years of experience providing routine care such as physicals and general health screening evaluations, acute care for illness, and the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension. He is dedicated to helping his patients understand their health concerns and make informed health decisions for themselves. Dr Hakim obtained a BA degree in biochemistry from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. He then earned his medical degree from UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School, Camden, NJ. He went on to do his internal medicine residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Dr. Hakim has served as an attending physician in the internal medicine department at Overlook Hospital and as a part-time clinical instructor of medicine at UNDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He has certifications in diabetic care and serves as the Berkeley Heights Township physician.He has served as a member of several prominent committees and has been the chairman of the credentialing committee for a local independent physician’s association. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
