After completing a surgical internship, residency and vascular fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, he completed an endovascular fellowship at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Reifsnyder was a member of the teaching faculty at Western Pennsylvania Hospital as well as at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), St. Margaret Hospital.
