I am a native of North Carolina and particularly Vance County. I take pride in returning to my hometown to provide for the medical needs of my patients. I joined Duke Primary Care Henderson in November 2011, and I have truly enjoyed my experience and the patients that I have cared for along the way. I decided to stay with Duke and transferred to Duke Primary Care Waverly Place in Cary in July 2014. This move provided more opportunities for my husband and we were able to be closer to family. I provide a full spectrum of patient care, extending from newborns to geriatrics. I have a strong interest in management of chronic disease, such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and heart disease. I also enjoy women's health and provide services for IUD placement/removal, and Nexplanon placement/removal. I am passionate about sleep and helping patients achieve good sleep so they can be healthier and feel better during the day. I have particular interests in treating patients with obstructive and central sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, and idiopathic hypersomnia. For patients with sleep apnea who haven't done well with treatment in the past, I can often help make positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy more tolerable and effective. My approach to patients is to spend time gathering information from patients and their families. Families can provide very helpful information about patients' sleep that patients might not be aware of themselves. I then work with patients to develop a treatment that is mutually agreeable, as I think it's important for patients to understand and agree with their treatment plans.
