Overview

Dr. Checkley specializes in intensive care medicine. He is an expert in the diagnosis and management of acute respiratory failure and the acute respiratory distress syndrome. Dr. Checkley earned his M.D. from Northwestern University and received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Emory University and fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His research interests include International lung health, epidemiology, mechanical ventilation and acute lung injury. Dr. Checkley has been recognized by the National Institute of Health with the 2007 Post-doctoral National Research Service Award and the 2009 Pathway to Independence Career Award.
