Dr. Ryan E. Fitzgerald

Dr. Phillips is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He sees patients in the St. Petersburg and Tampa locations of Children's Orthopaedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates (COSSA), L.L.P. Dr. Phillips is an affiliate assistant professor in the USF Morsani College of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. His recent research includes the characteristics of success and failure in L3 fusions for Lenke 5 curves, and the outcomes of extra-articular drilling for osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the talus. Dr. Phillips earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, serving as chief resident of orthopaedic surgery during his final year of residency. He completed fellowships in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, and pediatric orthopaedic hand surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Dr. Phillips enjoys all aspects of pediatric orthopaedics and has a special interest in pediatric hand conditions. He has additional specialty training in the complex reconstruction of limb deformities using internal lengthening devices and gradual correction with external frames. Dr. Piazza earned his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He then completed an internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Penn State College of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He also earned a master’s degree in biomedical engineering at Duke University.
