Luketich, a pioneer in minimally invasive foregut surgery. Dr. Groth seeks to bring that expertise to Baylor. As part of a team effort with other health care providers, Dr. Groth’s practice includes the multi-disciplinary management of benign and malignant disorders of the esophagus/foregut, lung, pleural space, mediastinum, chest wall, and diaphragm. As the Director of Esophageal Surgical Services at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Dr. Groth will co-direct a newly created swallow center, which will provide a multi-disciplinary approach to managing patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and esophageal motility disorders. His laboratory is funded with two National Cancer Institute, NIH, R01 grants, ‘Targeting the Mitochondria to Overcome Resistance to Immune Checkpoint Inhibition in Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma,’ and ‘Novel strategies to improve mesothelioma therapy’.
