
Overview
Dr. Sarah Mitchell has been a board-certified general surgeon in the DFW area since 2020, primarily serving the trauma surgical needs of North Texans. Since 2022, she also has served as an assistant professor in the Departments of Surgery at Texas Christian University and the University of North Texas Health Science Center, both in Fort Worth. She is fellowship-trained in endocrine surgery and uses endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques to treat cancerous tumors, gastrointestinal reflux, thyroid disease, thoracic disorders and other concerns. Dr. Mitchell earned her medical degree Magna Cum Laude while attending The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She also completed her general surgery residency at UTHSC in San Antonio. She went on to complete her endocrine surgery fellowship at UT Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. Mitchell is a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Thyroid Association, Association of Women Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncologists and Texas Medical Association.

Texas Health Surgical Specialists
Dr. Uzer Khan has been board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care since 2015. He is also fellowship-trained in surgical critical care with special clinical focus in the areas of critical care ultrasonography and its use in the resuscitation of the critically ill. Dr. Khan has also been engaged in the development of ECMO programs and in the education of surgical trainees – he has been associate program director of a general surgery residency program and fellowship director of a surgical critical care program. Dr. Khan earned his medical degree at Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his general surgery residency at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown before going on to complete his surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Maryland/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Dr. Khan has written numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and periodically presents on topics related to surgical critical care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of many organizations, including the Eastern Association for Surgery in Trauma, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Surgical Critical Care Program Directors Society.
