Dr. Lakshmi L. Sodagum

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, Dr. Sodagum completed both her residency and fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 2005, she joined the medical staff of Newton Memorial Hospital and Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. Dr. Sodagum specializes in treating the full spectrum of kidney (renal) disorders, such as acute renal failure, chronic renal failure, hypertension, glomerulonephritis, electrolyte and acid-base disorders, and post-transplant medicine. She is experienced in hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis and is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized, high-quality care to her patients.Dr. Sodagum was honored with the Best Fellow Award in 2004-2005 by UMDNJ’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. She currently serves as the Director of the Hackettstown Dialysis Center and Co-Director of the Newton Dialysis Center. An active member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Medical Association, Dr. Sodagum is committed to advancing nephrology care. She has also contributed to research in hyperglycemia-induced DNA damage, the renal effects of Celebrex, and studies focused on hypertensive type 2 diabetic patients with overt nephropathy.
