Overview
Lizabeth Lanford, MD, is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Lanford earned her medical degree from the University of California at San Diego Medical Center. She then completed an internship and residency at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh followed by a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Dr. Lanford is active in the Echocardiography Laboratory and in caring for cardiac patients. She has a special interest and expertise in caring for single ventricle and complex cardiac patients. Her patient population includes newborns up to young adults that she has cared for throughout their lifetime. Dr. Lanford is a frequently sought out resource for the fellows, junior faculty, and coworkers in the management in these patients. Dr. Lanford’s imaging skills are in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. She enjoys the challenge of figuring out the complex anatomy and physiology of a patient based on their echocardiogram. She teaches, challenges, and mentors sonographers, fellows, and junior faculty to develop their skill sets to image and care for cardiac patients. Her research interests include pulmonary venous anomalies in infants with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, pulsatile flow hemodynamics, in vitro study of fluid dynamics using Doppler ultrasonography, and cardiac abnormalities especially pulmonary hypertension in children with sickle cell disease. She has been a presenter at multiple UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Heart Institute Master Classes in Congenital Cardiac Morphology and is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography. Clinical Research
Clinical research consists of overseeing clinical studies of patients undergoing new treatments and therapies, and publishing articles in peer reviewed medical journals. Providers who actively participate in clinical research are generally at the forefront of the fields and aware of the most up-to-date advances in treatments for their patients.
UPMC Children's Hospital Of Pittsburgh
Laura Jean Olivieri, MD, is a board-certified Pediatric Cardiologist and the Director of Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging at Children's Hospital Pittsburgh, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Brown University in Providence, RI, where she also was invited to stay for a chief year. She completed her training in pediatric cardiology at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC following by a year in advanced cardiac imaging at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute specializing in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging. She is expert in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT. She is also considered a leader in the field of 3-dimensional reconstruction of congenital heart defects from 3D imaging, and in adapting MRI methods to babies and children. She is most interested in improving image acquisition using MRI and echocardiographic in 3D printing of heart models and has compiled a successful grant portfolio to that end. She also serves as Principal Investigator for an R01 to investigate application of cardiac MRI and Interventional Cardiac Magnetic Resonance on the care of pediatric heart transplant patients. This is a 4.5 million dollar, 5-year contract aimed at using CMR to guide interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, using less sedation for diagnostic CMR procedures and to advance diagnostic CMR capabilities to use less invasive testing. Dr. Olivieri is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Ebstein's Anomaly. Her top areas of expertise are Subpulmonary Stenosis, Coarctation of the Aorta, Tetralogy of Fallot, Heart Transplant, and Angioplasty.
UPMC Children's Hospital Of Pittsburgh
Adam Christopher, MD, is a pediatric cardiologist and is certified in cardiovascular disease and pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is the director of cardiac MRI and CT at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and is an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his pediatrics residency at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital followed by his cardiology fellowship at UPMC Children’s. He also completed an advanced imaging fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Christopher’s clinical interests include non-invasive 3-dimensional imaging of complex congenital heart disease, and his research interests include novel MRI techniques to minimize the need for sedation as well as to better visualize complex flow patterns in congenital heart disease. He has published work in multiple respected cardiovascular imaging journals and is a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. Dr. Christopher lives in Allison Park with his wife and two children. View the full list of Dr. Christopher’s publications on PubMed. Dr. Christopher is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Ebstein's Anomaly. His top areas of expertise are Ebstein's Anomaly, Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), and Tetralogy of Fallot.
UPMC Children's Hospital Of Pittsburgh

He is clinical director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Dobson received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine, and then completed a residency in pediatrics at then Walter Reed Army Medical Center (now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center) followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Dobson’s clinical interests include acquired cardiac conditions in children. He has published several peer reviewed manuscripts on topics pertaining to pediatric cardiology and has received several awards for his service as a physician and in the military, including the Order of Military Medical Merit in 2018 and the Master Clinician Award in 2020. At UPMC Children’s, Dr. Dobson will direct Cardiology Clinical Operations, working directly with the Heart Institute, the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, and hospital leadership to support program development and strengthen existing services. Dr. Dobson is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Ebstein's Anomaly. His top areas of expertise are Ebstein's Anomaly, Pediatric Myocarditis, Ventricular Fibrillation, and Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).
