Encephalitis Treatments

AVACLYR is a sterile topical antiviral indicated for the treatment of acute herpetic keratitis (dendritic ulcers) in patients with herpes simplex (HSV-1 and HSV-2) virus. AVACLYR (acyclovir ophthalmic ointment) 3%, a herpes simplex virus nucleoside analog DNA polymerase inhibitor, is indicated in the treatment of acute herpetic keratitis (dendritic ulcers) in patients with herpes simplex (HSV-1 and HSV-2) virus.

CMV Retinitis FOSCAVIR is indicated for the treatment of CMV retinitis in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Combination therapy with FOSCAVIR and ganciclovir is indicated for patients who have relapsed after monotherapy with either drug. SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF FOSCAVIR HAVE NOT BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR TREATMENT OF OTHER CMV INFECTIONS (e.g., PNEUMONITIS, GASTROENTERITIS); CONGENITAL OR NEONATAL CMV DISEASE; OR NONIMMUNOCOMPROMISED INDIVIDUALS. Mucocutaneous Acyclovir Resistant HSV Infections FOSCAVIR is indicated for the treatment of acyclovir-resistant mucocutaneous HSV infections in immunocompromised patients. SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF FOSCAVIR HAVE NOT BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR TREATMENT OF OTHER HSV INFECTIONS (e.g., RETINITIS, ENCEPHALITIS); CONGENITAL OR NEONATAL HSV DISEASE; OR HSV IN NONIMMUNOCOMPROMISED INDIVIDUALS.

BENLYSTA (belimumab) is indicated for the treatment of: patients 5 years of age and older with active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who are receiving standard therapy, and, patients 5 years of age and older with active lupus nephritis who are receiving standard therapy. Limitations of Use The efficacy of BENLYSTA has not been evaluated in patients with severe active central nervous system (CNS) lupus. Use of BENLYSTA is not recommended in this situation. BENLYSTA is a B-lymphocyte stimulator (BLyS)-specific inhibitor indicated for the treatment of:, patients 5 years of age and older with active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who are receiving standard therapy; ( 1 ), patients 5 years of age and older with active lupus nephritis who are receiving standard therapy. ( 1 ) Limitations of Use: The efficacy of BENLYSTA has not been evaluated in patients with severe active central nervous system lupus. Use of BENLYSTA is not recommended in this situation. ( 1 )
