Dr. Philip Seo is an Associate Professor in the Division of Rheumatology. A graduate of Harvard College and the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, Dr. Seo completed his Internal Medicine training as a member of the Osler Medical Service at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Since then, he has worked at Johns Hopkins in several capacities, including as a hospitalist at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and as an Assistant Chief of Service of the Department of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, before joining the Division of Rheumatology. Dr. Seo is the Director of the Johns Hopkins Vasculitis Center and Director of the Johns Hopkins Rheumatology Fellowship Program. His clinical interests lie in the assessment and treatment of patients with systemic vasculitis, in particular, the ANCA-associated vasculitides, which include granulomatosis with polyangiitis, microscopic polyangiitis, and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis. Between medical school and his internship/residency, he spent a year at the National Institutes of Health as a recipient of an Intramural Research Training Award.Following his fellowship, Dr. Potter was appointed to the Rheumatology faculty at the University of Virginia as an Assistant Clinical Professor. There, he helped to establish a curriculum for musculoskeletal ultrasound for training fellows and gave several presentations on topics including rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory myositis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. He participates annually as a question writer for the American College of Rheumatology’s Continuing Medical Education Program. Dr. Potter has received multiple scholarships and awards throughout his academic and medical careers, including the ACR REF/Amgen/Pfizer Rheumatology Fellowship Training Award, Teaching Resident of the Year, Intramural Research Training Award, Dr. Emile C. Nash Award, and Internal Medicine Departmental Award. He has been first author and co-author of several peer-reviewed articles, largely focusing on disparities in U.S. Healthcare.
