Dr. Steven Carter

Dr. Carter is an assistant professor of surgery and an OU Health physician working in partnership with the Crohn's and Colitis Center at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital. He provides exceptional care for patients for a wide range of digestive health conditions. Dr. Carter enjoys working with patients and their family members to help improve their quality of life. Dr. Carter graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oklahoma. He earned his medical degree and completed residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Dr. Carter finished a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Baylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas, Texas. He has provided colorectal care for more than a decade to Oklahomans. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Carter specializes in colon cancer, rectal cancer, anorectal disease, and inflammatory bowel disease, among other conditions. He offers robotic-assisted surgical solutions in cases when they best serve patients' needs. Dr. Carter cares for adults. He accepts most insurance plans.
