
Overview
Igor Brichkov, MD, FACS, is a fellowship-trained thoracic surgeon with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in thoracic and cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, he specializes in treating a variety of malignant and benign tumors and disorders of the pleural space, the chest wall and the mediastinum, including radiofrequency ablation of lung cancer and treating pleural mesothelioma patients. With more than 20 years of experience in the field, he believes in pursuing minimally invasive treatment and robotic surgery whenever possible, resulting in smaller incisions and shorter recovery times after surgery.After earning his medical degree at Albany Medical College, Albany, NY, Dr. Brichkov performed a general surgical residency at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, followed by a cardiothoracic surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York. He then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive thoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and served as a clinical instructor at the hospital’s Heart Lung and Esophageal Surgery Institute. Prior to joining AMG, he served as a thoracic surgeon in New York City, and associate professor of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.The author of many publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters, Dr. Brichkov has presented at several national and international conferences and taught courses in percutaneous tracheostomy and endobronchial ultrasound. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, New York Society for Thoracic Surgery, New York General Thoracic Surgery Club, and the General Thoracic Surgery Club, as well as a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.

He performed his residency training in general surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT and cardiothoracic residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, IA.Committed to resident education, Dr. Widmann serves as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York.
