Dr. Alexander H. Tejani
Overview
Alexander H. Tejani, M.D., is a board certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine and general orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy as well as general orthopedics. A native New Yorker and an avid runner, Dr. Tejani understands the importance of physical well-being and activity.
He attended Boston College in Massachusetts where he graduated with a focus in Mathematics. After graduation, Dr. Tejani remained in Massachusetts to complete the Medical Sciences Program at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Tejani traveled to Washington, DC where he earned his medical doctorate with distinction from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. While completing his Sports Medicine fellowship with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation, under the tutelage of Director Dr. Deryk Jones; he was an assistant team doctor to the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, and the University of New Orleans basketball team, as well as nationally ranked high school football teams.
Whether it is through operative or non-operative means, Dr. Tejani s goal is to combine his fellowship-trained expertise with the latest innovative treatments to help his patients lead healthier and happier lives. Dr. Tejani has researched, published, and presented on hip and shoulder arthroscopy, cartilage repair, meniscal tears, and other orthopedic topics. In conjunction with his tenure at Healthcare Associates in Medicine, a division of Orlin & Cohen Medical Specialists Group, Dr. Tejani served as team physician for the Staten Island Yankees minor league team, the Class A Short Season affiliate of the New York Yankees. He continues to serve as team physician for Wagner College, and many local Staten Island high school teams.
