Overview
Alexandra M. Falvo, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric surgery and foregut surgery. Dr. Falvo performs a number of advanced and specialized surgical procedures including gastric bypass, revisional bariatric surgery, laparoscopic gastric band (or “lap band”) and gastric sleeve. She also treats people for various conditions affecting the stomach and gastrointestinal (GI) system including GERD, hiatal hernia, paraesophageal hernia, achalasia and acid reflux. She completed her residency in general surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she served as chief resident, followed by a bariatric surgery fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.|Dr. Falvo recently received the Award of Commitment to the Art and Science of Surgery and the Award of Excellence in Clinical and Scholarly Activity.|She is a fellow in the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American College of Surgeons, as well as an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Association of Women Surgeons.|Dr. Falvo is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and practicing yoga.
