Overview
Philosophy of care | Family medicine gives me the unique opportunity to care for individuals and families throughout their lives and across generations. I enjoy working with young families, promoting healthy lifestyles and putting preventive medicine into practice. I also love helping patients learn about, treat and live successfully with the medical conditions they develop over their lifespans. | Why I entered medicine | I’m the first person in my family to graduate from college. My grandparents didn’t finish high school, but they made sure their children – my parents – got a better education. Although my parents didn’t have the opportunity to attend college, they recognized the importance of a complete education and made sure I had every chance to pursue my interests and be successful in whatever career I chose. I found I had a passion for the intellectual challenge of medicine and was excited by the opportunity family medicine offered to be a health advocate for families and the community. | Community involvement | My work as a doctor improving patients’ lives is my passion, but it’s an all-consuming job that doesn’t allow me much time for volunteer pursuits. However, in the past I served for 10 years on the board of Dream Come True, a local grassroots charity that makes dreams come true for seriously, chronically or terminally ill children. | Personal interests | I enjoy painting, reading, gardening, art and history.
