He then attended the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical School where he received the William Winter MD Award for his “Outstanding Performance in Orthopedic Surgery” as a senior medical student. He continued his passion for orthopedics by completing his residency at the University of Cincinnati and affiliated hospitals. As a graduating chief resident he was selected as the recipient of the Peter J. Stern MD award “in recognition for outstanding qualities in professionalism, patient care, and teaching.” He then decided to pursue subspecialty training and completed an Upper extremity/Hand fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina. During fellowship he received the Fellow’s Clinical Science Silver Award by the Wake Forest Division of Surgical Sciences for his research on nerve injuries. Dr. Choudhry has several research endeavors that have been presented at national meetings and published in prestigous scientific journals. Dr. Martyak served in the United States Air Force from 2008- 2012 achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a clinical instructor for the combined US Air Force/ US Army combined orthopedic residency program at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Gregg Martyak was part of the team to perform the first hand transplantation at a military facility. Dr. Martyak has continued to care for military patients in Colorado Springs since 2012.
