
Overview
Dr. Hooman Soltanian is an associate professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include breast reconstruction, such as microvascular tissue transfer, and major reconstructive procedures for post-traumatic and oncologic defects. He also performs cosmetic procedures for breast and body enhancement. He sees patients at Wellspan Reconstructive Plastic Surgery in York, Pennsylvania. Dr. Soltanian earned his medical degree from the University of Munich. He completed two years of residencies in neurosurgery at the University of Saarland and the University of Bonn in Germany, general surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, and plastic surgery at Albany Medical Center in New York. He received fellowships in hand surgery and microsurgery at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Soltanian joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2017. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Soltanian was the interim chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Soltanian has published numerous papers and presented at various national meetings. He has served in several educational and organizational capacities and has been recognized with several awards. He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She also serves as the Director of the Johns Hopkins Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship training program and is the clinical co-director of the Melanoma Program at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her areas of clinical expertise include Mohs micrographic surgery, complex facial reconstruction following skin cancer surgery, melanoma, cosmetic scar revision, and surgical management of benign and malignant skin lesions. Dr. Ng graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and was awarded the Harvard College Scholar Award for academic excellence. She received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and subsequently trained at New York University School of Medicine, one of the nation's top dermatology programs, where she was selected to be chief resident. Following residency, she completed a prestigious fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology with a focus on advanced reconstruction under the tutelage of one of the leaders in the field at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. She serves as a reviewer for and her research has been published in premier peer-reviewed journals including Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Ng joined the faculty of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2017 and has been consistently recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Baltimore Magazine.
