Dr. Leyla E. Sade
Overview
Leyla “Elif” Sade, MD, is a cardiologist and is board certified in cardiology and echocardiography. She is a professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from, and completed a cardiology residency at, Hacettepe University in Turkey, followed by a research fellowship in echocardiography at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh between 2001 and 2002. Dr. Sade’s clinical interests include echocardiography, 3D cardiovascular imaging, myocardial mechanics, heart failure, transplantation, and valvular heart disease. She has published dozens of peer reviewed manuscripts, been invited to speak at national and international congresses on several topics related to cardiovascular health, and serves on multiple editorial boards including the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and European Heart Journal: Cardiovascular Imaging. Dr. Sade currently serves as Vice President of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging and has been a member of the Scientific Program Committee of the European Society of Cardiology and Turkish Society of Cardiology. She acted as director of several advanced level echocardiography teaching courses in Europe.

Dr. Toma joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2007. He currently leads the Chronic Total Occlusion Program as well as the Pulmonary Vascular Interventional Program at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He is an integral part of the Structural Heart Program with interests in the aortic and tricuspid space. Additional interests include intracoronary imaging and mechanical circulatory support. Dr. Toma has had an extensive amount of publications and presentations over his career, has several invention patents, and serves as a clinical study leader at local and national levels.
