Dr. Pamela Combs

A specialist in sleep disorders, Pamela Combs, MD, has been practicing medicine since 1982. She treats adult patients at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Sleep Care Center, where she also serves as medical director. Board certified in sleep medicine, she also is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Diplomate, American Board of Sleep Medicine.In her approach to care, Dr. Combs looks at the total patient situation. “Many areas of life and health can lead to sleep disorders,” she said. “Sleep disorders can have a significant impact on various medical problems.” In practicing humankindness, she discusses worries and problems the patient may have, calling it “important therapy.”Dr. Combs previously focused on noninvasive cardiac evaluation and became interested in the overlap of sleep apnea with cardiac disease. This led to her specializing in sleep disorders. “The ability to fairly rapidly make the abnormal numbers better and patient feel good was motivating,” she said.Her favorite part of her job is working with patients and hearing their story. “It has always made me feel good to have contributed to someone's well-being at the end of the day.” Away from work, Dr. Combs enjoys spending time with her family and boating.
