Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Chanin received a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He earned his medical degree and completed residency training in internal medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to New York City where he completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology.Dr. Chanin decided to become a cardiologist after his father was treated for atrial fibrillation, or �AFib,� while he was in medical school.
