Dr. Andrew Dennish grew up in San Diego as the son of a cardiologist. He attended college at UCLA, where he received his B.S. in marine biology in 1996. He then attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, receiving his M.D. in 2001. He trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, from 2001 through 2007.Dr. Dennish is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology. He is the Chief of Staff at Templeton’s Twin Cities Community Hospital. His professional interests include preventive cardiology, non-invasive cardiac imaging and the management of chronic cardiac conditions such as coronary disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias. During his training, he participated in designing and supporting hospital-based programs for the rapid triage and assessment of chest pain, as well as a statewide network to rapidly treat heart attack victims.In his spare time, Dr. Dennish enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and following sports. My philosophy of patient care and the reason I chose to practice primary care is centered around developing authentic relationships. When a physician and patient develop a strong relationship this leads to them working together as a team to achieve their best health. Although trained in the art of western medicine, I truly believe the secret to health lies in ancient and natural practices that do not require a prescription, namely, exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness. I am passionate about helping patients formulate a sustainable plan to engage in these three art forms for the rest of their lives. When these practices fail to achieve the results we desire, there is a place for modern medicine, but hopefully only as an adjunct to these natural paths of health.
