Dr. Miyake was born and raised in the Treasure Valley in southwestern Idaho. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Idaho State University, he worked as a food microbiologist and environmental chemist for Analytical Laboratories, Inc. in Boise, Idaho for two years prior to starting medical school.
