Overview
Philosophy of care | I believe most chronic illnesses we struggle with are preventable, but also realize daily life can inhibit our ability to make healthy lifestyle choices or find appropriate care. My priority is staying up to date on medical developments that can help slow or even reverse a chronic disease. As your doctor my goal is helping you and your family find a path that works for you and improves the trajectory of your life. | Why I entered medicine | I initially thought about a career in medicine while studying high school biology and being fascinated by the intricacy of mechanisms governing the human body. I also was influenced by my own experience with the health care system while hospitalized for appendicitis as a young teenager. In college I majored in neuroscience and behavior, and later worked in a research lab studying autoimmune disorders. Family medicine/primary care provides me the opportunity to form long-term relationships with patients like you, creating a bond for working together on your physical and mental well-being. | Community involvement | During my residency near Boston, I worked with under-insured patients by performing pre-school physicals for children and then connected their families to resources for establishing consistent care. In medical school, I volunteered to teach 5th graders at a Philadelphia public school about healthy lifestyle choices involving nutrition, exercise and mental health. I plan to pursue similar endeavors in the Lehigh Valley. | Personal interests | I enjoy reading or listening to books/podcasts in my free time, which is usually when I drive or during vacations. Fiction of all kinds and self-improvement/self-help are my favorite genres. My go-to exercises are running and yoga. Recently, I have found kayaking to be very peaceful and rejuvenating. I love to travel, spend time with family and friends, and tell stories about trying to keep up with my creative husband and rambunctious cat Olaf.
