Dr. Dale F. Butler

Dr. Drew Farmer is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care and fellowship-trained in trauma and critical care. He is skilled in the use of advanced and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including endoscopy and laparoscopy, to care for patients with acute, life-threatening and potentially life-threatening surgical conditions. His areas of special focus include vascular trauma, surgical rib stabilization, intra-abdominal infections, and penetrating trauma to the neck, chest and abdomen. His work in intra-abdominal care has been published in the peer-reviewed medical journal Surgical Infections.Dr. Farmer earned his medical degree in 2014 while at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. He completed his general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He was named Chief Resident in the final year of his residency. Dr. Farmer completed his trauma and critical care fellowship at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He previously served as a general surgeon at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, also in Philadelphia, within the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care & Emergency Surgery.Dr. Farmer is a member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American College of Surgeons, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Society of Critical Care Medicine. He was named Chief Resident in the final year of his general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Edmundson received other honors during his time at Baylor as well, including Top ABSITE Score, Raleigh Ross Scholar and the David B. McReynold Servant's Heart Award. He went on to complete his surgical critical care fellowship at The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he also served as a specialist within the Division of Trauma & Emergency Surgery.As a fellowship-trained surgical critical care physician, Dr. Edmundson cares for patients with acute, life-threatening and potentially life-threatening surgical conditions, including tissue injuries due to trauma/wounds, burns, infections, acute inflammation and ischemia. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and Society of Critical Care Medicine-Texas Chapter. When not with his patients, Dr. Edmundson enjoys film photography and playing on his electric and acoustic guitars. After graduating from Duke University in Durham, N.C., with an undergraduate degree in biological anthropology and anatomy, Dr. Cooper earned his medical degree from East Carolina University-The Brody School of Medicine in Greenville. He then went on to complete his general surgery internship and residency training at the University of Missouri in Columbia before completing his trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of California-Irvine.Dr. Cooper performs most types of general surgical procedures, including open and minimally invasive procedures for gallbladder removal, removal of the appendix, acute emergencies related to solid organ and hollow viscous intra-abdominal injuries, hernia repair and other health concerns. His areas of special focus and primary interest include trauma, burn, critical care and acute care surgery.He is published in such peer-reviewed journals as the Journal of Trauma, Military Medicine, and Prehospital and Disaster Medicine</em>. He has spoken throughout the country on topics ranging from trauma innovation and strategies for neglected trauma disease to training for endotracheal intubation and recognition and management of nerve agent causalities.Dr. Cooper is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also involved in the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association. When not caring for his patients, Dr. Cooper enjoys golfing, playing tennis and advancing his photography skills.
