I was born and raised in a small town in West Virginia. I attended both undergraduate and medical school at West Virginia University. I applied to medical school with a primary interest in forensic pathology; however, I quickly found patient interaction much more rewarding. I then chose a combined field in internal medicine and pediatrics. I have practiced medicine in North Carolina since 2002. After I moved to Durham, I was told I needed to choose light blue or dark blue, but have remained a true Mountaineer at heart. I am married with two energetic boys.
