David C. Ritterband MD, FACS is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Prior to joining Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH)/Northwell Eye Institute, he was a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai and System Director of the Refractive Surgery Service for the Mount Sinai Health System. He has published over 250 medical and scientific papers, book chapters, monographs, and research abstracts. He has lectured widely in the United States on cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery topics. His clinical and research interests include cornea transplantation, cataract surgery, ocular drug development, laser refractive surgery, and ocular infections. A committed teacher and mentor, he has trained over 50 clinical cornea fellows first at the highly regarded AUPO certified corneal fellowship program at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and continuing with the current AUPO corneal fellowship program at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Ritterband has received numerous awards including an Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been named multiple times to New York Magazine's Best Doctors, Castle Connolly's Top Doctors, and the NY Times Magazine's Super Doctors.
