Why I entered medicine | I have always been interested medicine. Many members of my family are physicians. I had a great uncle who was one of the earliest neurosurgeons in Canada and two uncles who are surgeons: a neurosurgeon and a cardiothoracic surgeon. My father is also an orthopedic surgeon. They all have taken the time to share their interest and knowledge of medicine with me. During my undergraduate studies, I worked in a laboratory. I found out that working for hours on end at the laboratory bench was not for me. I enjoy interacting with people. I was accepted into medical school prior to obtaining my bachelor’s degree. I have many great memories from my years of training at the University of British Columbia, which I completed in 1990. I decided to specialize in orthopedics during my fourth year of medical school. I enjoyed being involved in the invasive procedures in all specialties. I won a gold medal in anesthesia, but I liked the satisfaction of fixing things in orthopedics. As an orthopedic surgeon, my father never pushed me into orthopedics, but he was happy to see me following in his footsteps. Dr. Hawk is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in Knee Replacement. His top areas of expertise are Osteoarthritis, Bursitis, Tendinitis, Tenosynovitis, and Knee Replacement.

Philosophy of care | The simplest way to sum up my approach to care is that I treat each patient the way I’d want a member of my family to be treated. A major part of total joint replacement is working together with patients as a team. I focus on defining each patient’s goals and then devising a plan to help them function as fully as possible so they can return to the activities they love. Before we discuss surgery, I first try all conservative, non-operative modalities. Once those have been exhausted, I use the most modern surgical techniques, combined with tried-and-true pain management and rehabilitation approaches, to provide the best outcome possible. | Why I entered medicine | For me, medicine is my vocation; I don’t feel I could have been anything but an orthopedic surgeon. I was exposed to excellent mentors throughout my pre-medical and medical education who always put their patients first, heard them and walked through their treatments with them. My passion for orthopedic surgery was cemented when I began one-on-one work with patients during my clinical rotations in medical school. I strive to emulate my mentors every day and am humbled by the relationships I form with my patients. | Community involvement | I’m involved in social justice activities at my church, including service to homeless people. It’s an opportunity to connect with the community and help those in need. My other joy is mentoring undergraduates and medical students. It not only renews my own interest in medicine but also deepens my enthusiasm for orthopedic surgery. I consider it a privilege to help future generations of physicians, just as I was once helped. | Personal interests | I'm devoted to my family and friends and spend the majority of my free time with them enjoying the outdoors and attending sporting events. I’m an avid sports fan and continue to follow teams I grew up with back in Washington State – the University of Washington Huskies and the Seattle Seahawks. As a newcomer to the Lehigh Valley, I also love checking out local sports here, not to mention exploring all the fantastic activities this area has to offer, especially the excellent food options. | Image | Lehigh Valley Hospital is ranked 25th in the country for orthopedic care on the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list. Philosophy of care | My mindset is to listen to you and understand why you are here for an appointment. I want to know not just what may be wrong, but about you, and what are your long-term and short-term goals. I will do my best to help you achieve those goals with the skills and experience I have been gifted. | Why I entered medicine | Growing up in the coal regions of Pennsylvania, my parents – dad was a Pennsylvania State Police trooper and my mom worked in a local cafeteria – I saw the respect and admiration they had for our town physicians. I wanted to study hard and become a physician to help people – people like my parents – and earn that respect in a vocation that would never feel like a job, but a calling. I knew as a doctor that I could serve folks for as long as I am capable. | Community involvement | My entire professional life has been inextricably integrated into community service as a Level 1 trauma surgeon, a team physician for many regional high schools, colleges and professional teams (Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Philadelphia Eagles training camp). I also have been a leader in organizing opioid crisis town halls and fundraisers, have been an invited health fair speaker, co-developed Medical Fitness in the Lehigh Valley, developed Integrated Health Campus, and am an invited member of several regional boards of directors. | Personal interests | I have many varied interests including as a competitive swimmer in U.S. Masters Swimming, cycling, woodworking, custom framing, nutrition and CBD research. I also host a cable television health show that addresses health and medical issues. | Image | Lehigh Valley Hospital is ranked 25th in the country for orthopedic care on the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list. Philosophy of care | My practice philosophy is to hold your welfare – the patient’s welfare – first and foremost. I am committed to providing you with personalized, high-quality care, whether I am seeing you in the office for an appointment or in the hospital. I especially value clear, prompt and respectful patient-physician communication. Although my expertise in interventional cardiology involves treating existing blockages, I strongly believe that prevention is the key to long-term good health and much of that comes from excellent control of cardiovascular risk factors. My goal is to provide optimal evidence-based care with the best possible outcomes for you. I strive to put that into practice every day. | Why I entered medicine | As a biomedical engineering student, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to assist in innovating novel cardiovascular technology while working with many physician-scientists and their patients. I quickly observed the inexplicable bond that exists between physicians and patients. This allowed me to truly appreciate the value of medicine and the importance of bridging the gap between engineering and medicine. Today I find the constant progress within cardiovascular treatments inspiring due to rapid innovation that brings minimally invasive therapies to our patients. I am consistently energized and motivated by patients who benefit from quicker recovery, better outcomes, and improved survival rates. Cardiology is a dynamic field seeing prolific advancement on all fronts, with interventional cardiology at the forefront of many leading-edge technologies. Interventional cardiology is truly gratifying to me since it utilizes revolutionary therapies to immediately help critically ill patients. I find my work meaningful as well as impactful. | Community involvement | As a native of the Lehigh Valley, I am eager to leverage my expertise to give back to the community that fostered my growth. Having family and friends in this very area makes me even more passionate about educating, not only my patients and their families but also the entire community regarding cardiovascular disease and new evidence-based therapies. I have spoken at various forums around the Lehigh Valley, published articles online and in our local newspaper and will continue to look for new opportunities and mediums to share information. I volunteer to create awareness in the community while conducting cardiac health screenings. | Personal interests | During my leisure time, I love playing sports like basketball, tennis, golf and squash. I enjoy reading, traveling, hiking, learning about different cultures and spending time with my family. Dr. Singh is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in Knee Replacement. What is the definition of Knee Replacement?

Knee joint replacement is a surgery to replace a knee joint with a man-made artificial joint. The artificial joint is called a prosthesis.

When should I see a Knee Replacement doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Knee Replacement doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Knee Replacement doctors near Bethlehem, PA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Knee Replacement doctors near Bethlehem, PA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Knee Replacement doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Knee Replacement doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Knee Replacement doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Knee Replacement doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
      • List of questions and concerns
      • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Knee Replacement doctor?

      Here are some sample questions:

      • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
      • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
      • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
      • Are there other specialists I need to see?
      • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Knee Replacement doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more.
