Dr. Stephen M. Atkinson
Overview
Dr. Stephen Atkinson is a general surgeon skilled to perform a variety of surgical procedures, including hernia repair and gallbladder removal. He has extensive training in minimally invasive techniques and is also certified in the use of the daVinci robotic surgical system.Dr. Atkinson earned his undergraduate degree in Mandarin Chinese before going on the complete his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He did his general surgery residency through UPMC Community Osteopathic in Harrisburg, Penn. Dr. Atkinson is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Osteopathic Surgery, and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. When not with his patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and undertaking home remodeling projects. Dr. Atkinson actually paid for some of his medical schooling by flipping a fixer upper. He also likes to travel. So far, he’s been to 12 countries over 4 continents, but his mission to see the world is still a work in progress.
