Dr. Vafa Tabatabaie received her medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. After several years of research on thyroid cancer in Toronto, Canada, she came to Montefiore in 2007 as a researcher in the Division of Endocrinology under the direction of Drs. Norman Fleischer and Martin Surks. She graduated from the Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2011, during which her enthusiasm and teaching skills were recognized with the Award for Outstanding House Officer in Internal Medicine, and she completed the Endocrinology Fellowship Program in 2013.
